Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Disposal
We take our role as a responsible retailer very seriously, that is why we are supporting the new Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directive from the government and doing our bit to help care for the environment.
What is the WEEE directive?
The new directive states that as a retailer we are responsible for increasing the amount of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic collection facilities. It states that retailers must provide a way for their customers to dispose of their old household electrical and electronic equipment when they sell them a new version of the same item. The new directive came into effect on 1st July 2007.
What are we doing?
We only charge for the cost of transporting your appliance for recycling. Alternatively if you wish to return your appliance to us with no charge then this can be accepted at our distributor's premises;
Fantasia Distribution Ltd
Unit B The Flyers Way
Westerham, Kent
TN16 1DE
Proof of your delivery will be required and they can only accept like for like items to those that were delivered. For example a ceiling fan or ceiling fan with light would be accepted, a light fitting alone would not.
What do you have to do?
If you require this service then we ask that you request this at the point of ordering. Please ensure that the ceiling fan is disconnected and dismantled before it is collected.
Waste electrical and electronic equipment is the fastest growing waste stream in the UK, increasing by 5% every year.
In 1 year in the UK< we produce enough waste electrical and electronic equipment to fill Wembley Stadium 6 times.
Our aim is to reduce the amount of electrical waste that ends up in landfill and in turn help to protect the environment from further damage; together we can make a difference!
To remind customers of the collection and recycling services available, all electrical items sold will now carry the following symbol:
WEEE - Crossed out wheeled bin
